This poem from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow made Revere’s ride famous in history…. However, it is rather inaccurate, in that Revere–who was one of three riders that night–ever completed the ride!
This article explains more about the three riders and why Revere is more famous. However, even though the Smithsonian magazine is usually a good source, they falsely cite the year at 1776–but it was actually 1775.
