An English Saying for Thanksgiving and every day: “Count your Blessings”

“Count your blessings” is a saying that reminds to be intentional and deliberate to remember the GOOD things in our lives. Instead of focusing on the negative, focus on the positive.

Here are some sentences that some of my online students wrote. When I count my blessings, I count my wonderful students, of past and present!

Everyone should count their blessings and not complain. –Alice

She cried because she lost her favorite doll. “Count your blessings,” her father told her when she told him what happened.” At least you still have your stuffed animals to play with.” –Deron

After the earthquake, Jack was very angry because the earthquake ruined the house. But Mom told him, “Count your blessings. At least we are all safe.” –Ryan

Billy wanted to buy a tank, but he was worried that he could not pay off the credit card bill; his friend told him, “Count your blessings, you already have the tank you wanted, no need to worry about the police coming after you!” –Ricky

“You need to count your blessings, Ellie. At least you’re still alive!” Ella comforted Ellie after she became crazy during the game which included some sharks. –Felicia

Pippen was punched by his classmate and he cried, but his mom came and said, “Count your blessings” many people have a really sad life. –Ian

I have three full meals each day, so I’m counting my blessings. –Hubert

You may have a cough but at least you don’t have a fever. You should count your blessings.  –Joshua

After knowing the terrible poverty going on in India, I count my blessings. –Rebecca

I have something to eat , so I’m counting my blessings and not being picky about my food. –Hugo
