In this case, English speakers would probably say, &#8220;It&#8217;s the first thing I could think <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">of<\/span>.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That made me think: When do we use &#8220;think about&#8221; vs. &#8220;think of?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">THINK ABOUT:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This implies a person&#8217;s attention and thoughts are focused on a subject for a long time. Examples:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">think about<\/span> how to do my homework. &#8211;Yunni, student in Shenzhen<\/li>\n<li>Global warming is a serious problem; please <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">think about<\/span> it carefully and find a solution to solve it. &nbsp;&#8211;Felicia, student in Taipei<\/li>\n<li>Billy keeps&nbsp;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">thinking about<\/span>&nbsp;the girl who sits in front of him in class.<\/li>\n<li>Martha is so busy raising her three young children at home, she doesn&#8217;t have much time to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">think about<\/span> much else right now.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">THINK OF:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This implies a person think up or creates an idea; it can usually be done quickly. Examples:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Ellie is crying, can you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">think of<\/span> anything that can cheer her up?&#8221; Jack asked Ella. &#8211;Felicia, student in Taipei<\/li>\n<li>Have you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">thought of<\/span> where we should go today? &nbsp; &#8211;Yunni, student in Shenzhen &nbsp; (Language note: this sentence can be written both ways. &#8220;Thought of&#8221; implies you came up with an idea of where to go today, while &#8220;thought about&#8221; implies you spent quite a bit of time pondering the issue, but maybe you have not come up with an answer yet. Notice also this sentence uses &#8220;think&#8221; in the past tense.)<\/li>\n<li>I wanted to make dinner quickly, and <a href=\"https:\/\/pixabay.com\/p-1463929\/?no_redirect\">spaghetti<\/a> was the first thing I could <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">think of<\/span>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Tests make me so nervous. Many times I really do know the answer, but I just cannot <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">think o<\/span>f it right away during the test!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>**************<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So if you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">think about<\/span> it, English is a crazy language.
